When La Clé Jewelry began following me on Twitter a couple of months ago, I immediately browsed their website and followed them back. I love jewelry — especially pieces that are unique and handmade, so it was without hesitation that I inquired about collaborating after seeing some of the key necklaces they created.
Deanna Saracino is the designer behind La Clé (“the key,” in French). I had the pleasure of speaking with her in May and learned a little bit more about the company and why she decided to start it. Deanna was looking for a creative outlet and was in the midst of a career transition. She knew she wanted to be able to give back and build a brand that embodied the sentiments she cared about: living a more conscious life, embracing who you are, and being happy. As she spoke with me on the phone, I nodded in silent agreement. The keys she creates are more than just necklaces. They represent ideals that everyone strives for and serve as a reminder to live a happy and fulfilled life. Deanna’s motto for the company, and life, is “look good, feel good, do good.”
Deanna offers different types and styles of keys. When I first perused her website I landed on What’s Your Color?, a page describing the 15 colors of keys to choose from and the meaning behind each. My color was baby blue, which represents charisma and trustworthiness. As you wear “your color,” you are meant to embody its meaning. Over time, the color fades and you are left with the original, or naked, key. Since giving back is important to Deanna, once you have your naked key, post a photo on social media using the hashtag #NakedKey and explain what the key means to you. La Clé will make a donation to a charity of your choice. See, you can look good and feel good at the same time!
The other styles on La Cle’s website are equally as beautiful. I had a hard time picking a favorite, but I was drawn to the gold glitter key. I’ve been wearing a lot of gold jewelry lately, and I thought this was the perfect piece to mix and match with my own necklaces or to wear alone as a statement. When I received the key, I have to say it was even more striking in person and something I know I will enjoy wearing to work, a Sunday brunch, or just out shopping.
Any style and color can be found at La Clé. Deanna makes dipped keys with just a hint of color, double decker with multiple keys and colors, and custom keys where you can have a personalized word imprinted. The company is also expanding and creating a fun and fashionable apparel line that I have been ooh-ing and aah-ing over on Instagram.
Whether you are looking for a special gift for a friend, or something meaningful for yourself, you will find it at La Clé. I’m looking forward to wearing my glitter key and remembering its significance in terms of my happiness and unlocking my future.
