Aside from pumpkins, nothing says fall like apples. As I mentioned in The October Agenda, I’m eager to try some delicious apple recipes that I’ve found around the web this season. And that means I will need lots of apples.
I haven’t gone apple picking on Long Island since I was a child. I remember it always being a fun day trip, complete with pony rides, a corn maze, apple picking (of course!), and a warm cider donut to end the day. Obviously, I’m too old for pony rides (insert sad face here), but there is still a childish joy surrounded around apple picking. The Milk Pail in Water Mill, New York on Long Island’s East End, was my destination of choice this year. And judging by the standing traffic on the single-lane highway out to the Hampton’s on a Sunday, I think it’s fair to say that I was not the only one who was excited about apple season.
The Milk Pail did not disappoint in terms of producing high-quality, juicy, red apples that will be perfect for baking…and eating. But almost as important as where I went and what I did is what I wore. The shirt, which is in my new favorite color and pattern, is by Mossimo, as is the vest. On a recent shopping outing to Target, I decided to pick up a few on trend items for fall. Since I now work from home, my list was rather short. But I’ve been loving all the burgundy tones, plaid button-downs, and chunky knits and vests this season. If you are in the market, Target is the place for all things plaid and chunky. And Mossimo is one of my favorites for its fit, style, and wearability. Seriously, this is one of the coziest shirts I have ever purchased. I will definitely be going back and picking up a few more plaid patterns in different colors.
On to the vest. What’s not to love about it? The classic color scheme, combined with the faux fur hood and shearling interior will keep you warm and stylish throughout the fall and winter. I’m sure it will be getting a lot of wear in the coming months, and don’t you just love how it works with my burgundy plaid shirt?
