We received our first taste of winter on the East Coast this week (#hello2016) and it is f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g. Why is it that each year I forget what freezing feels like? Now I have no excuse to leave my new winter essentials closeted (insert complaints about the temps when taking outfit photos, here). With any luck, some fun fashion posts will be coming your way soon.
In the meantime, we are still in the early stages of embracing a New Year. So I thought I would share some snaps from the first few days of 2016. Hope you all are staying warm!

Yes, it finally turned cold here in DC and I have to pull out all my winter essentials again. For a while, I thought we were going to have such a mild winter this year! 2015 looked like a great year for you! Best wishes for 2016!

Those cookies look delicious! Being in a baking mood and my new year’s resolutions are very conflicting right now haha

Thanks, Jamie! The cookies are in conflict with my healthy eating goals, too. But the goal can begin once the cookies are finished, right?
Such beautiful photos! Those cookies look amazing!
Thanks, Valerie!
What!?! Kicking Horse coffee!
I need this!
You do, Elinor! Trust me, it delivers quite a kick — but isn’t as painful as the ones those 1500-pound beauties dish out.
Beautiful photos, love this post!
Thanks, Sherry! I’m glad you enjoyed the post and thanks for visiting Living in Steil.

Thanks, Trang! I hope the New Year is off to a good start for you as well.
Such a cute 2015 roundup- looks like you had a great year! I am LOVING the 2016 starbucks cup- makes me want a hot chocolate right now! I was in Boston for Christmas and could not believe how warm it was! Christmas eve was 70 degrees- that is warmer than it was here in California! Sorry the cold weather is coming now 🙁

Thanks, Annessa. Same to you. I had a blast staying in on New Year’s Eve and baking. The bonus was that I had a sweet snack to ring in the New Year with.
