If you follow me on Instagram, you may have caught a glimpse of my new Mossimo wrap coat from Target. This coat was love at first sight, and with its Pope-worthy appeal and scandalous style, it’s sure to be a favorite of mine for many seasons to come.
While it was not easy to retire my long black coat, which had served me well through college, a few new jobs, and a couple of photo shoots, this Mossimo number has a lot going for it. If you are petite, the length is perfect. The tie waist adds dimension so you don’t feel like the Michelin Man, and the black-and-white pattern is in this season. Oh, did I mention the hood? When left in place it offers your neck some extra warmth. And when worn over your head, it gives you that Princess Leia feel. That’s a win-win, right?
This coat kept me toasty while ice skating the other day, but my other cold weather essentials are my leopard earbags from Sprigs and my new smart-tech gloves.
I started wearing bandless earmuffs that clip onto the ear during my winter days as an equestrian. They fit snugly under my riding helmet and were chic enough to wear all day long — while keeping my ears warm and staying in place. They are more than ten years-old, and in the winter I never leave home without them. The earbags come in lots of fun prints and can even be worn with your earbuds while you listen to music, which makes them perfect for winter workouts.
Recently, I purchased a pair of monogrammed smart-tech gloves at a gift shop (they didn’t have a ‘V,’ so I went with my middle initial), but you can find them online or at some department stores. Let me tell you — they are a game-changer for winter. This pair is thinner than I would have liked, but they do a great job allowing me to text and take photos without having to remove my gloves every five seconds.
What are some of your favorite cold weather essentials?
