Happy Monday! This marks the first agenda of the New Year. How did you fare last week returning to school and work? It was a rough one, right? Now that I’ve managed to put some of the holiday decorations away and take the tree down, I can finally start making plans for the month.
Try: One of my goals this year is to take an in-person calligraphy class. And it may just happen this month. Swell Anchor Studio on Long Island is offering a beginner calligraphy workshop and I have been toying with the idea of signing up. Since it’s local, I think I’m going to take it!
See: I never thought I would say this — but I’d actually like to see snow. Not a whole lot, but a little would be nice. And since it’s 30 degrees today, perhaps I’ll get my wish soon?
Go: My trip to Lake Placid, New York was temporarily put on hold last month due to weather related difficulties. First, it was too warm and the speed skating oval was closed. Then, two weeks later, it was too cold, with a high of 4 degrees and a low of -14. Sometimes you just can’t win! With any luck, the end of January will produce a few ideal days for the trip. Fingers crossed!
Do: More fitness classes! As part of my goal for the New Year, I want to make leading an active life a priority. Over the weekend, I made it to my first kickboxing class of 2016 — it felt great to get back to it. And last week I went to a Pure Barre class and glided on the ice for a skating session. This month I’d like to incorporate a few new classes into my repertoire, and maybe finally try aerial yoga.
What’s on your agenda this month?
Looks like your 2016 has got off to a good start! That calligraphy class sounds wonderful. 🙂

Thanks, Amy! I hope you find some fun things to add to your agenda this month.
I love the goal of making an active life a priority! I feel the same way – I love getting out of the house and exploring! My brothers girlfriend teaches barre and I have been looking forward to starting classes soon after I have the baby! I would be interested to hear how you like it!

Thanks, Colleen! I love the Pure Barre classes. They are low-impact and you really get a great workout. Definitely give it a try!
Looks like you’ve got some fun things planned for the month, Vanessa! I love Lake Placid, I went once years ago, but during the summer. It was still so lovely, but the winter is certainly the best time to go for someone like yourself who loves cold weather sports! I hope you get to go real soon 🙂 Oh, and you’re not joking, last week was just way too hectic and stressful, glad it’s over, haha! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead, beauty!

I’m freezing, but have no snow to show for it! It looks like I might get my wish soon. Stay warm, beautiful!
I don’t really have an agenda this month. Probably to be more active as well but it isn’t working out. Lol.
Snow is always so exciting in the beginning and then you get sick of it and want it to leave. 😛
Good luck with your agenda!
Great agenda girl! I’d love to visit Lake Placid someday too!

What a wonderful post! Calligraphy is such an amazing skill, I’ve been interested in learning it myself and even bought several calligraphy pens. You’ve reminded me about them and I should start as well!

Thanks, Shveta! Isn’t calligraphy fun? I have a couple of books that I use to practice my lettering, but I think a class would be really helpful. Hope you get back to it soon!
A calligraphy class would be so interesting. Never crossed my mind that I could actually learn it too. Maybe I should look into this as well haha! Great goals
Thanks, Keri! Calligraphy is a lot of fun to learn. I’m glad you enjoyed this post and thanks for visiting Living in Steil!
A calligraphy class sounds amazing. It’s also a great way to go offline since everyone is always attached to technology these days!

Oh my gosh, so many people on my social media are taking up calligraphy. I recently saw pictures of a bridal shower with calligraphy brushes to play with. Love the idea!
