I for one am not sorry to see March go (although it is hard to believe that it’s April already!). And while I was sick for half the month, I did manage to accomplish a few things on my March agenda, like touring Eastern State Penitentiary. April is looking busy, too. I’m currently in Rhode Island (and I wrote this post on the Long Island ferry ride over!).
Here’s what I have going on this month:
Try: A friend of mine told me about this sea salt cave in Montauk, on the East End of Long Island. The Montauk Salt Cave offers yoga, reiki, and halotherapy. Himalayan sea salt has all kinds of health benefits — including being good for your lungs, preventing illnesses, and increasing your energy levels — and I’m all for giving it a try. Expect to see a blog post soon!
Read: I always say I’m going to read more — and there are tons of books I’d love to read. But the truth is, between all of the blogs I read daily, I rarely have enough time in my day (I know. That’s no excuse). One book that has been on my ‘must read’ list for a while is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. I read her book Eat, Pray, Love a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I have no doubt I’ll feel the same way about this book, too!
Go: As I mentioned, I’m in Rhode Island at the moment (leave any suggestions on what to do while I’m here in the comments, please). It’s been about 15 years since I last visited, so it will be nice to explore Providence — and take lots of coastal photos. Here’s hoping all of the snow melts, soon! After all, it is April.
Do: I already have one NYC trip on the calendar this month, and I plan to spend some time touring both New York University and Columbia University while I’m there. No, I’m not enrolling as a student. But I do like seeing college campuses (and reminiscing about my days as an undergraduate). It’s been a while since I’ve walked around NYU, and as my mom is an alumna, I may leave with a shirt…or two.
What’s on your agenda this month?
Looks like you have a lot of fun plans for April!

Taffeta & Tulips
Thanks, Kate! It certainly doesn’t feel like spring in RI. Glad I brought lots of layers. I’m looking forward to a relaxing day at the salt cave in Montauk when I return — and I’ll definitely share my experience.

Thanks, Ashley! Austin looks like a really fun city. I’ve always wanted to visit. Hope you have a great trip!
First off, that photo is just gorgeous, I remember seeing it on your Instagram thinking how beautiful the shot was, great snap! I’ve been seeing a lot of people mentioning that book, Big Magic, and all seem to really love it; I’ve never read any of Gilbert’s books before. Both NYU and Columbia are very special to me because I went to NYU Stern and worked at Columbia’s NYPI and have some really amazing memories there. It’s such a huge university, but there’s a strong sense of community, which is really special. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far, girlie; continue to enjoy your stay in RI, I can’t wait to read a recap!

Thanks, Jalisa! I snapped a lot of photos on the ferry ride over to RI. The sky was the most beautiful shade of blue. I’m so glad you liked the photos I posted on Instagram. I love NYU and Columbia, too, and am excited to spend time at both schools. If you’re in the area, I’d love to finally meet you in person!
YES! Let me know as the days approach which day you’ll be at NYU! I’d love to meet up, too! There’s a great spot around the main campus that I know you’ll love, if you haven’t yet been; Max Brenner Chocolate Bar?! They make their own chocolate, which flows through the pipes of the entire restaurant and their lunch is also fantastic! Let me know, I hope we can do it!
Yay! I’m so excited. I’m planning on being in the city next Friday. I’ve been dyyyyyyying to try Max Brenner’s. Let me know if you’re free on Friday and we can go from there!
You should add The Nightengale to your “to read” list, I loved it.

Hi Vanessa! It sounds like you have some lovely plans for the month ahead. I’d love to be able to casually pop to NYC for a visit, it must be beautiful in Spring. My boyfriend is taking me to West Wales this weekend, and we’re heading to Sagres in Portugal for a beach holiday towards the end of the month. It’s so good to have plans and something nice to look forward to, as well as some more spontaneous things 🙂
