I will probably never be a morning person (and that’s putting it mildly). Despite reading countless posts on the subject and studying articles offering “five tips to help you wake up earlier,” I have come to terms with my status as a night owl.
These last few weeks have proven extremely busy. Between working a full time job, trying to keep up with blogging at least three days a week, adding a new career venture to my resume, and managing medical appointments (did I mention, I’m doing all of this while trying to cut back on coffee?), I’ve actually found myself waking up and starting my day earlier. And you know what? I don’t mind it. I’ve noticed that waking up earlier and getting more crossed off my to-do list during the day gives me some extra energy, and by day’s end, a sense of accomplishment.
Of course, I still have those mornings where I hit snooze 100 times before making it out of bed and race against the clock to get to work on time. But it’s about progress—not perfection. Even the smallest step in the right direction is still a step forward.
So, thank you for indulging me as I praise myself for starting to become a morning person (at least for the last few weeks) and work to keep it up in the future.
How do you apply the principle of “progress not perfection” in your own life?
I think progress not perfection should be something I think about more. I am probably too hard on myself so this post has given me something new to focus on. So glad you’ve giving yourself grace during this stressful time and have made progress without coffee. Don’t know how you do it! Lol!

I’m glad this post gave you something to keep in mind, Kathrine! We probably all need to be reminded of this mantra from time-to-time.
Ah! I admire you! It’s so hard for me to give up coffee in the morning… I’ve read that if I give up coffee I’m going to be a morning person :)!
I should try!
XoXo, Adriana.

Well, I hope that is true for you, Adriana. I’m back to my daily iced coffee routine, but I am still getting up earlier than I used to. You win some, you lose some!
