Saying that this summer has gotten away from me is an understatement. I’ve watched countless gorgeous beach days pass me by, as I’ve been busy working away indoors. Remember those long summer breaks we had as children? I could go for one of those right about now—even if only for a week!
But it hasn’t been all work and no play for me. Here’s how I’ve kept busy and what I plan on doing to occupy my (limited) free time this month:
See: One of my favorite events just happened last night. The Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra performed at Heckscher Park in Huntington, New York. Every summer I mark my calendar (and patiently wait) for this event to arrive. There is nothing more relaxing than listening to classical music on a cool summer evening under the stars. If music is your jam, don’t miss the Great South Bay Music Fest at the Shorefront Park July 13 – 16th or go see OneRepublic perform at Jones Beach Theater on July 29th.
Go: By now, you are probably tired of seeing a day trip to Fire Island appear on my summer agenda. So, I’ve decided to change up my travels and head to either Block or Shelter Island this time around. I haven’t been to either location since childhood, but I think the Long Island Pulse magazine just sold me on Block Island. With quaint B&B’s, gorgeous beach views, and tons of great places to eat, that’s all I needed to hear.
Try: I recently upgraded to a Nikon D3400 DLSR. While it will be hard to relinquish my iPhone for my photography needs (you just can’t beat the convenience of whipping out your phone, snapping a photo, and posting it to Instagram), I am looking forward to seeing what I can capture with my new Nikon. This DSLR model comes with SnapBridge technology, so I can shoot and upload my photos to Instagram on the go. And that makes me one happy blogger!
Buy: I’ve been a long time OPI wearer, but recently I switched to Essie for my summer polish needs. I’ve been seeing lots of great Essie shades, so I wanted to grab a new hue. I picked up California Coral from Ulta, which is a nice pinky-coral. I’m also loving the shades High Class Affair, Lounge Lover, and Berried Treasure.
Do: I ‘ve gotten back into a good yoga routine thanks to the complimentary classes at my local Lululemon. I used to attend them regularly, before taking a little hiatus from my practice. But now that I’ve found (read: forced myself to schedule) at least an hour every Sunday (and have a buddy to go with) I am enjoying waking up early to head to Lululemon and practice for an hour before the store opens. It is a great way to start a Sunday!
What’s on your agenda this month?
Can’t wait to see your photos with your new camera! I loving listening to orchestras outside in the summer. These concerts are always perfect for picnics. Thanks for sharing your plan for the month and happy Monday!

Thanks, Kathrine! Sadly, I haven’t even had time to test out my new camera. I hope to find some time soon, though.
