Can you believe it is October already? I’m not quite sure what happened to September—oh, right, I was moving for the entire month. But, regardless, here we are. While I am sad to officially say goodbye to summer, I am slowly getting ready for apple and pumpkin picking, Halloween, and all that this month brings.
Do: One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to head out east for a little apple and pumpkin picking. I love packing up the car in the morning with my bushel basket, throwing on a cute and cozy outfit, and hitting the road for a day spent in the orchard. While the trip typically takes the same form every year—with a stop at Hampton Coffee on the way out—this agenda item has become more of an annual fall tradition.
Try: Once again, I have strayed from my nightly meditation sessions before bed. It has become progressively more difficult to schedule an extra 10 minutes into my day, and therefore my meditation routine has become erratic…at best. But I also know that it is important to practice self-love and to carve out some quiet time for oneself. So, every night this month I am making a conscious effort to retreat to my bedroom earlier and leave time for meditation before bed.
Go: October also marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In doing my part as a cancer advocate, I will be participating in a donation based yoga class hosted by my local Bloomingdale’s this Saturday that will benefit The Carey Foundation and the Marisa Acocella Marchetto Foundation. I always enjoy getting my sweat on for a good cause!
Buy: Sadly, the boxes in my kitchen have yet to see the light of day (you can tell how much use that room gets!). But the rest of my new place is pretty much done. One of the final touches I’ve made is adding this gold mirror from Target that I leaned against a wall in my bedroom. I am having such a moment with gold accent pieces lately. Have you checked out the Project 62 line at Target yet? It is a good thing that I have already decorated, or else I would buy the entire line!
What’s on your agenda this month?
Love you new mirror and have loved this new line from Target! Apple picking sounds perfect this month. I am involved in a Women’s Retreat at church which will be at the end of the month. Looking forward to it!

Thanks, Kathrine! Your Women’s Retreat sounds like a lot of fun.
I am always happy to jump into Oct. because Sept. is way too busy with school and all the extra things that must be done in the beginning of the new school year, whooah! I love Oct. and apple pie and all the stuff for Halloween I only dream of doing from Pinterest. Oct. is my breath deep month.
I love October, too, Jennifer!
I’m jealous of your ability to go to an orchard in the fall! In Texas, the closest thing we get are the churches’ pumpkin patches + acting like 80 degrees is a “cold front”! It sounds so dreamy. And I agree about Target’s new line – I have to run out of the store before I let myself browse. Their new clothing line – Knox Rose – is pretty dreamy, too.

I’ll have to check out that other line at Target that you mentioned. Thanks, Lilly!
