Apple picking has been on my agenda since fall began. With precious few weekends left in the season and highs in the upper 70’s this past weekend, there was no better time than the present to head out to Water Mill, New York.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I feel right at home on the East End of Long Island—especially in the summer and fall. Apple picking out that way marks an annual tradition for me. I try to leave early in the morning, stop at Hampton Coffee for breakfast, and then drive the winding roads lined with perfectly manicured hedges until I arrive at the Milk Pail—a secluded and serene orchard.
While the East End of Long Island boasts plenty of orchards, the Milk Pail is the clear winner in my book. Their apples are large, juicy, and tempting. I always get more apples than I could ever eat—and this year was no exception. Although it’s late in the season, I still managed to take home a slew of Red Delicious, Granny Smiths, and Fuji apples. Perhaps there will be an apple pie in my future….
Apple pie sounds amazing to me right now! Thanks for sharing these great pics. It looks like it was a beautiful day there!
