Last month, I visited Tournesol Wellness for a Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy session with Carey Davidson. Never heard of Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy? Don’t worry, I hadn’t either before Tournesol reached out and invited me to come in and try a session.
I’m all for anything health and wellness related, and with my recent health issues, the last couple of months have taken a lot out of me both emotionally and physically. So, when I had a day off during the workweek and could head into New York City, Tournesol Wellness was my first stop.
I made the trek to 26 E 36th Street, in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, ready to enjoy the many benefits Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy (VAT) had to offer. After having read about the treatment and how it can reduce stress and restore balance, I knew this was for me.
Walking into Tournesol Wellness, I could immediately feel the stress of the previous few months begin to float away. And when I was first introduced to Carey, the founder of Tournesol Wellness and the one who would be conducting my treatment, I knew that I was in good hands.
Carey brought me upstairs to the treatment room—a quiet oasis that seemed to make the sounds of the city disappear. After little sleep the night before and a long train ride into the city (which for some reason involved a train change at the Hicksville station), I was more than ready to relax on the treatment table that was topped with a water-filled mattress.
As I settled in and began to relax, Carey explained how VAT worked and what I would feel during my session. VAT uses frequencies between 30HZ and 120HZ, which are applied to the body through the water-filled mattress. Feeding off the frequency, the cells in your body begin to respond and copy the vibrations that the body feels. By doing this, the cells are brought back to a natural state—resulting in a healthy resonant response.
VAT has been studied by the National Institute of Health and is shown to have had beneficial effects on a variety of health conditions, including Parkinson’s Disease, PTSD, and anxiety, among others.
During my 75-minute treatment, Carey performed an intuitive reading and Reiki, as I let the frequency adjust my cells. Carey’s reading was spot on and she was able to very accurately talk about what she was picking up on in my life. It was truly fascinating to hear what she had to say and I was immediately able to put the pieces together and connect what she was saying with my reality.
She also told me that during her Reiki session, she was picking up two things: thyroid and liver (liver being where frustration manifests, and frustration is something I have had a lot of in recent months).
We then discussed the five elements of Ayurveda—ether, air, fire, water, and earth. By learning which element you are, you will be better able to practice balance and know what you need to do to achieve it in your own life. Guess which sign resonated with me? You’d be correct if you said…water. Water people tend to be introverted—they love their “me” time and would rather retreat than spend time in the company of others. Carey gave me some tips on being a water person and also how to combat the feeling of isolation that can accompany the element.
Overall, I was amazed by the Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy session and very grateful to have been able to meet Carey. Her story of finding her path and her passion for holistic wellness truly resonated with me and she is such an inspiration.
I left Tournesol Wellness that day feeling like a whole new person—as though I had been rebuilt piece by piece. I had been struggling with anxiety issues in the weeks prior—resulting in sleepless nights and irritability. But after my visit, I was able to feel a sense of peace and tranquility that I hadn’t felt in some time.
My sense of equilibrium lasted long after my visit to Tournesol Wellness. I credit Carey and the treatment for my ability to get through my whole body scan last week and remain calm during the week-long ordeal.
If you are in the New York City area, I highly recommend visiting Carey and booking a Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy treatment!
