With a new year comes new experiences. And, for me, 2018 is kicking off with a new job. While I am beyond excited to start my new position today, it also meant leaving behind my old, familiar office full of friends and officially exiting the area that I recently moved from.
But for the first time, I am finding the beginning of a new job more thrilling than nerve-wracking. Perhaps it’s because it is closer to home or that it better aligns with my personal and professional goals. Whatever the reason, I am embracing this next chapter and looking forward to meeting my co-workers today.
After all that I have gone through with my health over the last four years, including my recent thyroid scans in November 2017, I decided that it was time for a change.
I began looking for a position outside of the higher education field that would be more personally fulfilling for me. When I saw a positing for a social media and public relations manager for a local cancer foundation, I felt like the stars had aligned and I found my calling.
The position ticked nearly all of the boxes on my wish list—and I was ecstatic when I was offered the role. To do work that I am passionate about and where I can make a difference, utilize my skills, and acquire new ones is exactly what I was searching for.
Wish me luck today as I begin this next chapter in my career!
Good luck my friend! You will be perfect for this job I have a feeling. Please let us know how things go today. Have a great week!
