I recently had the opportunity to try a workout class at The Bar Method, a new studio in town, prior to their official grand opening today! By now, my love of the boutique fitness studio should come as no surprise to you, so not even a pinched nerve in my neck was going to keep me from sampling a class.
For a little local history, The Bar Method in Huntington Village calls an old ice house home (cool, right?). Back in the early 1900’s the building that now houses the studio was used to store ice and was Huntington’s first artificial ice plant.
Before we get into the details of the workout, let me start off by saying that this studio was one of the most glamorous spaces that I’ve ever seen—as evidenced by the chandelier that greets you upon arrival. The newly renovated space is open, bright, and inviting, and the large mirrored studio provides ample room for instruction.
But the intensity of this workout could have melted all of the ice that once used to be stored in ‘The Ice House.’ From the second the class started, the 60-minute workout got our hearts pumping and muscles shaking. Our instructor, Ashley, provided a fun playlist and hands-on adjustments when needed, and she did a great job keeping us all motivated as we planked, lifted, and pulsed our way through the class.
If you are looking for a workout that targets your upper-body, legs, and core, while working your seat, then The Bar Method is for you. Despite the intensity of the class, it’s a great workout for beginners and regular barre-enthusiasts alike, and it is easy to follow the sequence of the workout. With many different class offerings ranging from “Express,” “Mixed,” “Level 2,” and “Bar Move,” you will be sure to find a class that suits your workout preferences.
This space is amazing! I have heard a lot about this workout. Thanks for sharing and I hope to try it sometime soon. Happy Friday Vanessa!
