Summer may have already begun, but I think we can agree that it really kicks-off on July 4th, which just so happens to be coming up this week. I have to say, the mid-week holiday is throwing me off a bit. Was this past weekend July 4th weekend or is it next weekend? I’m not really sure which one we are technically going with, so I think I’m just going to celebrate both weekends. Is that cool with you?
Here’s what’s on my agenda this month:
Eat: Did you know that July is #NationalIceCreamMonth? Well, it is. Time to hit up your local beloved ice cream shop (mine is Herrell’s, in case you couldn’t tell from my Instagram Stories) and order yourself a few scoops of your favorite flavor to celebrate. Better yet, find a vegan ice cream that you love, so you can feel less guilty about eating it (all month long!).
See: It’s not the Fourth of July without a good fireworks show (am I right?). Every year, I head to one of my local beaches to watch the fireworks. I stop at Wild by Nature beforehand, pick up a few things to snack on, make some sandwiches, and bring along a nice bottle of lemonade from Trader Joe’s. It’s a simple way to celebrate the Fourth, but it’s something I look forward to each year.
Go: For me, it isn’t officially summer until the Heckscher Park Summer Arts Festival begins and I get to hear music under the stars. This year, my favorite classical group, the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra, will be coming to town on July 8th. I always enjoy their music and can’t think of a better way to wrap-up a weekend. If you are on Long Island, check out what other fun musical events will be going on this summer, here.
Plan: While my summer is usually occupied with work, time at the beach, and day trips out to the Hamptons or Fire Island, I think this summer calls for a little spontaneous weekend getaway. The destination is still TBD, but who doesn’t love a quick Friday-Sunday trip to somewhere new? If you have any easy getaway ideas from New York, hit me up.
Do: A new summer goal of mine is to visit all of my local beaches. So far, I’ve been pretty good about carving out a few hours at the beach each weekend (when the weather cooperates), but I tend to visit the same beach. I’m fortunate that I live within a short drive of a few nice beaches and feel like this is the summer that I should take advantage of them all.
What’s on your agenda this month?
Love how you always include ice cream in your feed! The plan for visiting beaches sounds perfect and I will go ahead and celebrate on both weekend! Have a relaxing week my friend.

Thanks, Courtney!
Oooh random weekend trips are always a good idea! I haven’t planned much for this month, but I must include ice creams in it! Summer means ice cream for me and since it’s National Ice Cream Month, I have another excuse to indulge in some more ice creams!
I am back after a month long hiatus, hope you’ve been well! Missed reading your posts! 🙂
