Like all good things, even August must come to an end. Whether I like it or not, it’s time to slowly say farewell to those long summer days, trips to the beach, and stunning sunsets. Although we’ll still have warm weather ahead of us for the next few weeks, there is a shift that happens once the calendar reads September. I’ve already spotted the pumpkin scones at Starbucks, and heard whispers about which trends are hot for fall. But, I’m not there yet. I need to ease into this next season.
First, I must say a proper goodbye to my beloved summer.
The summer of 2018 has been good to me. It was a season of tremendous personal and professional growth, and it was also the summer where I embraced self-care. I soaked up every minute I could this year, from taking early morning walks before work to hitting the beach after yoga to watch the sunset.
I checked off all of my annual summer traditions…and started new ones.
I found solace in spending time alone.
I made new friends.
I embraced the person I’ve become.
And learned more about the person I’ve grown into.
I savored the stillness of nature…and didn’t feel the need to pull out my phone.
I kept busy, but also made time for myself.
I changed up my routine.
I was open to new adventures.
I booked a trip.
I treasured my summer Fridays.
I spent lots of time at the beach.
I ate way too much ice cream.
I relaxed.
I recharged.
I enjoyed.
Farewell, my precious summer. You will be remembered fondly.
Love this post Vanessa! You really did savor this summer. I enjoyed watching all your stories and so glad you did so much self-care. Have a terrific holiday weekend!
