My birthday month is finally here! That’s right…I said month…because I actually plan on celebrating for the entire month. Aside from my birthday, November is easily one of my favorite months—I’m just coming off a sugar-high from Halloween (as I sit here eating leftover Halloween candy), the leaves have the most gorgeous golden fall hue (and it’s still mild enough outside to take an evening walk and enjoy them), and I can start to get excited about the upcoming holiday season (without seeming overly enthusiastic). So, what’s not to love about November?
Here’s what’s on the agenda so far:
Do: After the facial I had last spring (which was actually my first ever), I decided that I wanted to add the treatments into my skincare routine every so often. And what could be better than a relaxing facial on your birthday? Um, nothing. I’ve been going to Aveda for years to have my eyebrows waxed and I love all of their soothing skincare products. So, naturally, I decided to book a facial with them. I can almost feel the relaxation setting in…
Go: I love that Long Island Restaurant Week happens to fall during my birthday month. For the last couple of years, I haven’t participated in the dining event as often as I used to. But with so many new local restaurants that I’ve been wanting to try, I think now is the time. If you’re not familiar with how Restaurant Week works, there is a list of participating restaurants that offer a 3 course prix-fixe meal for $29.95. It really is the perfect time to try out new restaurants…or use it as an excuse to visit some of your favorite dining establishments. This year, Long Island Restaurant Week will take place from November 4-11. Better go make those reservations!
Buy: You may recall that before summer ended I purchased the Jet Lag Mask from Summer Fridays. Since then, I’ve been using the hydrating mask nightly and have noticed such an improvement in the quality of my skin. So, last week, I purchased their new Overtime Mask…which smells like fall in a tube! I’ve only used it once so far, but I was instantly impressed (and could swear my skin looked immediately brighter). This delicious smelling mask is packed with vitamins A, K and C, along with pumpkin exfoliates that hydrate and brighten the skin. I can already tell that this product will be part of my self-care Saturday (or Sunday) routine. Look for a full review to come to the blog soon!
Try: One of my favorite stops in Charleston, South Carolina was The Gin Joint. The cozy 1920s-inspired setting made it the perfect spot for this gin enthusiast to enjoy a nice Gin and Tonic, while learning about the more than 80 different kinds of gin they had on hand at the joint. Since then, I’ve wanted to learn more about the different gin brands and decided to do a quick Google search for a similar establishment in the New York area. Fortunately for me, New York City has quite a few good options for gin enthusiasts. I think a birthday Gin and Tonic is in order, don’t you?
