Like everyone else on Instagram, I’ve decided to take the #10yearchallenge and share a throwback photo from 2009. This year marks 10 years since I graduated from The American University. Where has the time gone? It feels like a decade has flashed before my eyes…but really it’s only been 10 years.
Ten years ago, I was a care-free 22-year-old who was trying to find my place in this world.
Today, I am an independent 32-year-old who knows where I need to be.
Ten years ago, I lived in Washington, D.C. and wasn’t sure where home was going to be.
Today, I live on Long Island, N.Y. and know that home is wherever I am.
Ten years ago, I was a recent American University graduate.
Today, I am a six-year thyroid cancer survivor.
Ten years ago, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life.
Today, I work as a social media and public relations manager for a cancer foundation.
Ten years ago, I envied everyone else who had found their passion.
Today, I am comfortable in my own skin, love the life I have created, and found my passion along the way.
Great things take time. Anything worth having takes a decade (or even a lifetime) to create.
