I hope everyone had a happy Fourth of July and a fun long weekend! I enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show in Asharoken, the incorporated village of Northport, Long Island, on the Fourth. It was a beautiful July evening to be down at the beach. There were actually three fireworks shows going on simultaneously, and at times, I didn’t know which direction to look first.

Heading down to the beach on the Fourth of July has become a yearly tradition for me. Sometimes I bring food and will set up a picnic, while other times, I bring a beach chair and watch the sun as it is setting. On this trip, I decided to bring along my Island Girl sweatshirt from Island Rose Designs, a local Long Island business that creates unique t-shirts, sweatshirts, and beaded bracelets that represent living on Long Island. Growing up on the Island (as locals call it), has always made me grateful to be an “island girl,” so I was honored when Island Rose Designs sent me this sweatshirt. I couldn’t think of a better piece to bring a long with me on the Fourth to wear after the sun went down.

This Island Girl sweatshirt is the softest material ever. It wears like a well-worn favorite, despite being practically brand new. I thought I wouldn’t get much wear out of a sweatshirt in the summer, but it is the perfect piece to tote along and throw on with a pair of white shorts or jeans — and it went really well with the striped t-shirt dress I wore on the Fourth. The sweatshirt I’m wearing is a small and it fits true to size. Trust me, once you get your Island Girl apparel, it will be a piece you’ll wear again and again. There are tons of great island-inspired designs to choose from on Island Rose Design’s Etsy page, so start shopping for the island lover in your life…or yourself.

I’m always happy to show my love for Long Island. I think it is one of the best places to live, and no matter where I live in the world, Long Island will always be home. I feel fortunate to live in a place that is a mere hour away from one of the greatest cities, and I’m also only a short drive out to the East End, where there are tons of local wineries, great beaches, and amazing places to eat. Not to mention, there is one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the world that takes place in Bridgehampton at the end of August. If I’m not going into New York City for a wellness event or a workout, you can be sure to find me in the Hamptons or Montauk. And, if you really need a change of scenery, you can take a short ferry ride over to Fire Island for the day and explore all that the barrier island has to offer. Being an “island girl” really has its perks!
Thank you, Island Rose Designs, for this beautiful sweatshirt!
