Even though it has been more than a decade since I’ve experienced those “back to school” days, there’s something about September that always leaves me reminiscing. As much as I love the fall, September makes me long for the summer that we just said goodbye to, while also being the start of the mental countdown to the summer we have yet to greet. Like all of the previous months that have past, this fall will likely feel a bit different and bring with it new experiences to navigate.
I’ve got a lot on my agenda this month, so I’m more excited than usual about the unofficial start of fall. Let’s dive in.
Go: I’ve been counting down the days until this trip to Scribner’s Catskill Lodge in Hunter, NY since I booked it in July, and I’m so happy that it is almost here. I found the bespoke mountain lodge on Instagram and immediately started following their account, which led me to peruse their website and decide that I needed to book a stay there. The serene and tranquil upstate New York setting seemed like an ideal place to escape to for a long weekend. Complete with a heated pool, mountain views, and plenty of lodge amenities, a weekend at Scribner’s will be the perfect way to ease into fall. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for a behind-the-scenes look at my stay!
Do: While the annual Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, NY that I usually attend to mark the end of the summer was canceled this year due to COVID-19 (insert sad face emoji here), I’m still getting in some equine time in the way of a trail ride. When a friend, co-worker, and former equestrian mentioned a local place called Big River Barn Rescue in Muttontown, NY that takes in rescue horses and rehabilitates them to be trail horses, I was all ears. We’ve both missed our barn days and our shared passion for horses was one of the first things we bonded over, so I’m thrilled she thought of this activity and I can’t wait to support a non-profit with such a vital mission…and get to spend some time around horses again.
Try: The one thing I’ve missed during my time at home is going to an actual workout class. While I’ve gotten used to working out at home and it’s been nice, when there’s an outdoor class to be had, count me in (as long as social distancing guidelines are in place). So, when I found out that my local Athleta was hosting an outdoor 305 Fitness class, a cardio workout that I’ve been wanting to try, I was like, “Where do I sign up?” The dance cardio workout seemed like a blast when I’ve seen videos from classes on Instagram, and while we don’t have a 305 Fitness studio on Long Island, I feel like getting to try this heart-pumping workout outdoors is the next best thing.
Order: Recently, I received a Viver Joy subscription box filled with amazing wellness products that are curated for women living with cancer and other chronic illnesses. I’ve been following their account on Instagram for a while and I love the content that they share to empower the cancer community. So, when they reached out and offered to send me a life force box for survival, courage, and strength, I couldn’t wait for it to arrive. I’ll be sharing a full unboxing of all the great products they included on Instagram stories soon, but I instantly loved the S’well flare traveler bottle and the Bach Rescue Pearls for natural stress relief. There are tons of incredible products in the box, so stay tuned to see them all!
