I’m excited to share the new look of Living in Steil with you! After eight years of blogging and one very long hiatus later, it was time to give this space a little upgrade.
If you’re a new reader around here (or need a refresher since it’s been a while), let me take a minute to say hello and give you the brief backstory of how this site came to be. In 2013, I was a 26-year-old, recent(ish) graduate of The American University and was trying to find my niche in life. I never dreamed that a routine doctor’s appointment would lead me in a totally different direction. But after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, I knew my life would never look the same. A year after my diagnosis, I started Living in Steil (pronounced ‘style,’ by the way, and also my last name) to process my diagnosis and find my voice. Initially, posts were about my musings, and then the topics branched off into fashion, travel, fitness, and food content. Eventually, I delved more into the world of wellness and became a health coach and a Board Certified Patient Advocate.
For frequent readers of my site, you may recall that my last blog upgrade was in 2017. While I loved the look of the theme for a while, after a two-year blogging break, it was time to bring new energy into this space. So much of the content I used to blog about just doesn’t resonate with my life these days now as a 35-year-old who is a caregiver and also building a new community in the patient advocacy space. You can find out more about that venture under Community and then by clicking on The Hospital Bar page in the toolbar above.
So, welcome to Living in Steil version 3.0! You’ll find the same great sassy style and prose, and everything from some of my favorite products and life hacks in the lifestyle category, to why I love infrared saunas and my #sanitystrolls so much in wellness, and everything about my thyroid cancer journey and resources over in advocacy.
While there are still some little tweaks needing to be made, as well as pages that I have to completely write new content for as I build out and expand Living in Steil, I hope you’ll enjoy the new look as much as I do and come here often to #LiveinSteil.
Since this site is as much a place for you as it is for me, tell me in the comments: What are your thoughts on the rebrand? What types of content do you want to see here moving forward? Why do you visit Living in Steil?
