The last four days provided a nice respite. So much so that I forgot to publish a new post on Friday. While everyone was getting lost in Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, I was apparently losing track of time.
As I mentioned in this post, I intentionally made no plans for Thanksgiving this year. On Thursday, I took a Pilates reformer class in the morning and then drove an hour down to the beach for a lengthy sanity stroll. Having a whole day to myself (or, at least, most of a day) felt like such a luxury. And having miles and miles of empty beach in front of me was the perfect way to unwind after my workout. I didn’t particularly miss gathering with people this year or having to pick up a menu item. Spending Thanksgiving on my own was just what I needed, and I am so glad that I gave myself permission to enjoy the holiday how I wanted.
I was also feeling like I needed some downtime at home, which fortunately, the rainy weather on Friday and Sunday provided me. However, I am still not in the holiday spirit this year, and have decided that I will most likely pass on doing any decorating or putting up a tree (a tradition I have done for the past decade).
On Saturday, I headed out East to Bridgehampton for a workout class with The Ness. The usually packed pop-up classes at Topping Rose House, this time, ended up being a private class for just me, which was such a treat. As someone who doesn’t get to take their signature trampoline workout class often, I appreciated the personal attention.
While I had a lot of time to unwind this weekend, I am so glad that I spent this holiday weekend how I wanted and had some nice one on one time with my grandmother. To me, this was one of the best Thanksgivings ever.
