One thing I learned after getting a HydraFacial last month is that I need to up my skincare regimen. For as long as I can remember, my skincare routine has been as simple as possible—and I wanted to keep it that way. But after seeing how radiant my skin looked post-facial, I realized I needed to do more to take care of it, especially as we head into the winter months.
Unfortunately for me, I have sensitive skin that reacts to almost everything. In my early 20s, my skin was acne-prone. In my 30s, the acne improved but left my skin tone looking uneven. The best thing I ever did for my skin was to wear lighter makeup products. Switching from a heavy all-day foundation to a tinted moisturizer has been a game-changer. Now, working from home, I rarely wear makeup at all, and my skin looks even better.
As we move into winter, I kept noticing that my skin felt tight and dry. I’ve tried different moisturizers in the past but never found one that worked long-term. Then I met serums—and they changed my life. Since my skin is picky, I decided to do a lot of the legwork for it in terms of ingredients. I ultimately settled on a day and a night serum from Youth to the People, a brand I have used before and one I enjoy because their products are crafted with clean ingredients (and smell amazing!).
After conducting thorough research like a chemist and reading tons of reviews from actual users, I settled on the 15% Vitamin C + Caffeine Energy Serum for use during the day to help brighten my skin and the Triple Peptide + Cactus Oasis Serum at night to hydrate it while I sleep. Since they’re serums, the texture is lightweight, almost like applying a thin coat of water to your face. Both products absorb into my skin well without leaving it feeling greasy or sticky (a major pro in my book). And, so far, almost two weeks later, my skin hasn’t shown any signs of irritation. If anything, it looks calmer, dewier, and more hydrated.
I’m glad I took advantage of Black Friday deals and scored these products. They have made such a difference in my skin in just a couple of short weeks and have extended that post-facial glow. When I do put on a tinted moisturizer after applying the serum, my makeup looks and stays on better. While I’m in no rush to add more products to my skincare routine (more is less, right?), these two have been a welcome addition. And now is a great time to try new products with the holidays coming up and a lot of brands offering smaller travel sizes or gift sets. Just sayin’!
