The other day, I had an early morning doctor’s appointment and decided I needed some retail therapy afterward. I rarely hit the mall these days and seldom need to buy new wardrobe pieces now that I work from home. But there was one staple item that was sorely missing from my closet—a good pair of denim jeans.
My previous pair of jeans were so loved that I literally wore them to death. They were the perfect fit for my petite frame, a great denim color, and the softest pair of jeans I had ever owned. Needless to say, they were my go-to jeans until there was just no way to keep patching them, and I (reluctantly) had to retire them.
As someone with a petite frame and who is very particular about her jeans, as evidenced by the description above, it can be hard to order them online and be happy with what arrives at your door. So, I did what anyone in my position would do—I went to my favorite store to check out their jean selection and try on a few pairs in person. In this case, that store happens to be Loft (because of their petite section). It’s been so long since I was last in a mall that I had forgotten what stores were there. Walking into Loft was like being a kid in a candy store, and I quickly lost sight of my focus upon entering. Before I knew it, there were joggers, athleisure wear, sweaters, t-shirts, and, lastly, jeans, being hauled into the dressing room with me.
Since this was my first major shopping outing of late and the store was practically empty, I decided to have some fun with a little dressing room try-on session (check out this Instagram Reel to see what I mean). Trying on a bunch of pieces and creating some looks reminded me of the good old days when I used to host styling events at my local Loft. Although I only needed a new pair of jeans, which took a bit of trial and error until I found the one, a few other pieces made their way home with me, too.
By the end of my outing, I had found the perfect pair of jeans (not too light, not too dark, and fit just right), a great plain white t-shirt, and an oversized white button-down shirt, which I’ve already worn to a business meeting (with said jeans). All in all, I was very proud of my shopping haul and I can’t wait to wear more of my new looks!
