It seems like just the other day we were counting down the arrival of spring, and now May is here. This means the summer countdown is on! I’m so grateful that we had a very mild winter, although we seem to be making up for it with spring monsoons at the moment. But I digress. Although I had been very much on the spring and summer countdown train, making plans for this summer has somehow eluded me. So, I thought I would take a moment to write down my goals for this month.
Here they are, in no particular order.
Take a jumping lesson with a riding trainer: It’s been a minute (or ten years) since I jumped a horse over fences, and it is one of the aspects of riding I miss. Now that the weather is getting warmer (and hopefully my days riding indoors will be numbered), I’d like to work with a trainer to get back into competitive riding shape.
Get back to outdoor workouts: And speaking of getting back into shape…my beloved Ness workouts will be hitting up the Hamptons again for their summer residency soon, and I can’t wait. If you’ve never heard of The Ness or their infamous sculpt or bounce classes, you can check out this post and this one, too, where I shared more about what to expect from their workouts.
Land another equestrian client: One of my business goals is to work with more equestrians (riders, barns, horse shows, etc), and to help them with their social media, public relations, and content creation management and strategy. Know anyone? Horses are my passion, and I would like to incorporate what I love into my business.
Get to bed earlier: This is always a goal of mine, and thanks to Instagram Reels, it’s one that never comes to fruition. Scrolling through videos is like going down a rabbit hole for me, and one that leads me to go to bed super late. This month, I’m going to make a serious effort to put the phone away before bed, so I can get a solid night’s rest.
Go on an adventure: With my nightly caregiving duties, I can’t wander too far, but I would like to do a few day trips this summer. There are so many cool places to explore in New York that are within an easy drive from Long Island. It seems like such a miss not to see them when the weather is nice.
Prioritize self-care: Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s a good time to check in with my mental and physical health. Thankfully, I have a few doctor’s appointments later this month, so they can see how the physical stuff is doing. But lately, I’ve been feeling the pressure I am under as a caregiver. I’ve felt tired, sluggish, and irritable almost daily, and I can sense that my body is telling me to take a break. While it may seem like I take time for myself by going to the barn and walking on my sanity strolls, always having to be ‘on’ as a caregiver takes its toll. Here’s to having a few beach days in the near future to help me decompress.
What are some of your goals this month?
