For some, they have many beloved pieces in their wardrobe. For others, they have a handful of chosen favorites that have withstood the test of time. For myself, I fall into the latter camp. When I purchase something, I always think about the amount of usage I can get from it—especially if it’s pricey. Sure, there have been impulse purchases here and there that get worn once and then usually lay abandoned in a drawer until I pluck it out of obscurity and think to myself, “What was I thinking when I bought this?” But one item has become a favorite of mine, and also of some of you, based on how often I get asked about it on Instagram: the Wyeth hat that I am always wearing.
Confession time. I never considered myself to be a hat person. But for someone who wasn’t that into hats, I seem to have amassed my fair share of them lately. I wish someone would have told me how easy adding a baseball cap could be for things like hiding messy hair (or worse, hair that is past its prime), looking chic without really even trying, or just dressing up or down a look. Now that I know, I own quite a few different types and styles of the classic everyday baseball cap, and if you follow me on Instagram, there’s a good chance you might recognize them.
While I love the classic look of a cap, especially in summer to keep the sun off my face, there’s something about wearing a hat with a more defined brim that suits me in my OG millennial days. I couldn’t tell you what I was looking for on the day in question when I bought the Wyeth hat at my local Anthropologie store, but it wasn’t a hat. I remember being drawn to this one in particular because it looked lightweight and like it would be the perfect addition for summer (so, I must have been shopping during late spring or early summertime). My aversion to hats in the past was usually because they seemed to swallow my head, but this hat from Wyeth was the welcome exception. It fit beautifully and felt comfortable. I bought the hat, and from that day forward, I became a “hat person.”
It was a solid purchase, as evidenced not by the number of times I have worn it over the past few summers (which have been manyyyyyyy), but also by how much all of you seem to always inquire about its whereabouts. While I don’t know the name of the original one that I’m wearing, I did round up some similar options for those who like the style of this one. This Sedona Hat is a nearly identical version (or it could just be my exact hat), then there is the Lindsey in Cream, if you prefer a more structured formal look, and lastly, there is the Cody in Light Blue, which offers a similar silhouette and a pop of color.
Either way, if you like my hat, check out Wyeth’s site, where you can surely find its similar looking relative!
