Last week, I was giving myself a manicure and scrolling through Instagram in between coats when I was served an ad from the nail polish brand, Olive & June. I’ve purchased polishes from the brand before, and I love their array of colors, the durability of their polish, and the wide shape of the polish brush, which maximizes each stroke to give you a salon-quality manicure or pedicure. Plus, the fact that their polishes are 15-free, and also vegan and cruelty-free makes me love supporting the brand even more. So when I saw this ad that served up a color called Pink Goldfish from the brands limited-edition Goldfish Collection, it stopped me in my tracks, as it was the exact shade I had been searching for.
This summer, I have been on the hunt for a pretty Mother of Pearl color, but without having to do a gel manicure. I thought I had landed on the shade when I purchased Let Me Bayou a Drink from OPI. But it turned out to be too pink and lacked enough shimmer. Then I ordered Kyoto Pearl from OPI. It was better, but in some lighting looked more silver. Still, it was a pretty option if you’re looking for a white polish with a little edge this summer. But the third time was the charm when the Pink Goldfish shade caught my eye and made me mouse over to see where I could purchase it asap. Fortunately, a Target about thirty minutes away had a bottle in stock, so the next day, I hopped in my car and bought it.
As the name implies, Pink Goldfish is a shimmery pink iridescent shade that, in some light, looks like you have nothing on your nails, and in other lighting, gives off a pretty hint of pink, purple, and blue tones. I’ve been wearing this color on my nails all week, and it’s the first manicure where my nails haven’t started to chip or look like they needed to be redone yet. The color itself is very light, so if you’re looking for it to have more depth, I’d recommend adding an additional coat of polish, which is what I did. I’ve also read reviews where people said they used it on top of another color to add some shine. I will definitely try that next time.
But honestly, I’m in love with this color and find myself looking at my nails in all kinds of lighting throughout the day just to see this color in action. It was exactly what I was looking for (and trying to make myself by mixing the two OPI shades I bought). So, thank you, Olive & June, for doing the legwork for me and creating the perfect color for summer!
