This past weekend was amazing. No, it was incredible. Actually, it exceeded any of my expectations. It’s not that I did anything out of the ordinary, rather the things I did hit differently and were just what I needed.
Last week, I felt stuck. Every day I told myself I would be more productive than I was the last, and it just never happened for me. I attribute a lot of my lack of energy to still being in the grieving process and I am allowing my body some well-deserved time to rest after the last couple of years of being in caregiving mode.
Since I was still at a loss for motivation by Friday, I took the day “off” and went to The Barn in Bridgehampton for a Lululemon-sponsored Forward__Space class. I had already booked my usual Sunday morning workout, but the week left me with so little positive energy that I needed to double up on my time with my new friends at Forward__Space. I’ve been doing more of their cardio-dance workouts, and this class was full-on dance. It was so much fun, but man, was it hard to keep up! After class, I splurged on the new Forward__Space tank from Lululemon (which I love and will tell you more about soon).
Then, over the weekend, I returned to the barn for two days of riding. I haven’t been getting a lot of time in the saddle this month, so it was nice to enjoy the beautiful summer weather with the horses and get some riding in.
In between all the workouts and riding, there was a much-needed dinner with a friend and a stop at Heckscher Park to hear covers of Frank Sinatra’s most popular hits, which made me think of my grandmother.
After two workouts and two days of riding, I don’t plan on moving very much until about Wednesday this week. But it was so worth it!
