If it’s cold and snowy where you live, perhaps a little retail therapy will cheer you up. That must have been what Instagram was thinking last week when the algorithm served me up an Old Navy ad that made me promptly find their nearest location.
To be fair, I can’t remember the last time I was in an Old Navy. I know that I had an Old Navy sports bra that I wore to death because it was so comfortable, and I can recall buying a pair of floral leggings back in my kickboxing days. But apart from those purchases, nothing is coming up in my recent memory.
Since Instagram decided it had been far too long since I perused Old Navy’s apparel, I was powerless to resist. One little click later, and I was already down the rabbit hole. I mean, who doesn’t need another puffer coat? Or a vest? Those things come in handy, especially during the frigid cold spell we are having at the moment. But unfortunately for my bank account, my scrolling turned into stepping into my car and driving to my local store to see the pieces in person.
Upon entering the store, my eyes landed on a puffer vest that came in far too many swoon-worthy shades, yet there were none left in my size (or so I thought). Disappointed, I made my way further back in the store, searching for the cozy cropped vest I first saw on Instagram. Although it seemed to be sold out online, after a few minutes, I found the vest..and in my size. The hunter green version with neon trim looked even better in person, and it was on sale! I didn’t even bother trying it on before taking it with me and doing one final lap around the store to make my way back to the home of the first vest. But this time, I found the vest in a chocolate brown color in my size. Don’t ask me how I missed it earlier!
So, in the end, I left with not one but two vests, thanks to Instagram. And I’m not mad about it!
