Yesterday, I found my way back to the barn, and it was just what I needed. While I knew it had been a while since I last had time in the saddle, I didn’t realize nearly a month had gone by. There was some time out of state, doctor’s appointments, and client events that kept me busy, but it had escaped me just how long it had been since I spent time with my four-legged friends.
This week has been a bit of a doozy, with a lot of adulting tasks thrown in for good measure. Every morning, I’ve awoken stressed and with a calendar full of action items. Then, throw in a plumbing issue at home, and you can imagine the kind of week I’ve been having. Yet, somehow knowing that I was heading to the barn made everything better and kept me on my toes all week. I prioritized a lot of my work at the beginning of the week so that I could have uninterrupted horse time.
When I got to the barn yesterday, it was like going to greet two long-lost friends. Of course, these friends were 1500 pounds and happy to see I came with carrots in tow, but I digress. Despite the lingering snow and frozen ground, there’s nowhere I would rather be than at the barn. I had two horses to ride, and by the time I finished the second, I felt immensely grateful for this life that I’m building that allows me to head out and spend hours at the barn on a random Thursday. Whenever I have questioned whether this entrepreneurship journey is the right path, I think of those moments, and they keep me going. My time in the saddle gave me that extra boost I needed to make it through the week and reminded me of the importance of having things on my calendar that I look forward to and that light me up.
