I love nothing more than an impromptu Instagram Live. On Friday afternoon, I did just that when Kim Lenar Ehrhardt from The Kim Code invited me to join her on her weekly 12:30 PM Lives to talk about how to get seen on social media. To be fair, Kim was traveling in Florida, and I was at the barn on Long Island getting ready to ride, so we both joined from our respective vehicles and chatted for a half hour about all things social media. How’s that for showing up authentically?
A little backstory. I first met Kim, who is originally from Germany, at a wellness event she was hosting for Hamptons BossMoms this past fall. It was an informative panel on biohacking and longevity that was joined by experts in the healthcare, dental, and nutrition fields. I walked away with so much knowledge, and I knew Kim was someone I wanted to get to know. So, when she asked me to go Live, it was an immediate, yes. And, as it turns out, we have similar backgrounds—she’s a brand and video coach who empowers female entrepreneurs to brand their brilliance and launch online businesses (if you’re not following her, go give her a follow).
So, what did we talk about? Well, since we were both hoping on a Live in the middle of our busy days, that seemed like a good starting point. I talked about how I launched this site as a community and a resource for those facing cancer. But also how I’ve been able to develop this blog into so much more. I’ve shared posts about my career, health, hobbies, challenges, routines, and even personal struggles as a caregiver to my late grandmother. My goal for this blog has always been to be a place of comfort, hope, and inspiration, and I’m honored that so many of you have continued to follow along as I’ve transitioned through my cancer journey and into patient advocacy and entrepreneurship. It’s always been important to me to be able to cover different topics and to have readers feel like the content is relatable to their own lives in some way.
Even though my chat with Kim was short, we covered a lot and shared some helpful information if you’re looking to start a blog, show up more confidentially on social media, or are launching a new product or offering and wondering where to start. Meeting inspiring people like Kim is what makes blogging and being on social media fun and rewarding…and it doesn’t hurt that she can help me with my German language skills, too.
Tune in to the replay from the Live and let us know what you think!
