For the last few years, one of my goals has been to learn (or, rather, re-learn, German). My father is from Germany, so growing up, I attended a German language program after school for a few years. However, as I got older and busier with other activities, my German studies fell by the wayside. So, when Babbel reached out about collaborating it was an ideal partnership.
I’ve tried many language programs over the years, and nothing has stuck. It’s been either too basic or it’s far too advanced for me. But either way, I get bored and don’t keep at it. When I tried Babbel, it seemed like the perfect way to bridge what I already knew with what I needed a refresher on (I’m looking at you, conjugation). With Babbel, it was easy to figure out which level was appropriate for me just from a few questions, and the learning platform can accommodate many different styles of learning, which makes it feel more like an individual course and less like something you’re doing online. Plus, they have live online classes that you can attend. The one thing that stuck out to me that sets Babbel apart from other language platforms is having the ability to practice audible language exercises. In one section of my lesson, I permitted Babbel to access my microphone, and I was able to speak and have my pronunciation checked.
Since I just started with Babbel, I’m trying to stick to practicing German at least three days a week for an hour each day. Ideally, I’d like to be able to practice daily, but I am trying to set a realistic schedule for myself. Babbel makes learning so fun and engaging that the other day, I lost track of time and was a few lessons in before I realized how much time had passed.
If you’re looking to learn a new language or brush up on the language skills you already have, Babbel offers lessons in 14 different languages and makes getting started simple. Having the ability to go at your own pace and choose which learning style works best for you will ultimately ensure that you master the language. And, if you prefer to learn with a group, Babbel has that, too, through their live classes. For those ready to speak a new language this summer, Babbel gave me this code with a special discount for you to start learning.
Tschüss!
