In the past, when it came to summer nails, my go-to shades tended to be white or coral (and occasionally lavender). But this summer, I’m switching it up with Manucurist’s new Sunset Kiss collection filled with vibrant hues and shimmery shades that make for perfect pairings.
While the Wisteria shade that I shared in this post was an instant favorite, I was eager to try all of the shades in the collection. However, I wasn’t prepared to try them all at once. That was until I perused Manucurist’s Instagram page and spotted the beautiful ombré nail art that could be created, that I became inspired to recreate the look with my own twist.
I’m not usually one for nail art, partially because I’m not good at doing it on my nails. But this manicure looked easy enough that even I could try my hand at it (pun intended).

I decided that I was going to use the color Lemonade as my base, a pale yellow that has some shine to it. Then, I would layer Pamplemousse, a pearlescent orange shade, followed by Pulp, a bright coral pink, and finally, my beloved Wisteria, a bold lavender, as I created an ombré look using a makeup sponge. After letting the base coat of Lemonade dry, I quickly got to work and added a line of Pamplemousse, Pulp, and Wisteria to the makeup sponge. Then I dabbed the sponge on my nails, leaving a little room for the Lemonade color to show. I gradually continued to sponge the other colors on my nails until I achieved the desired ombré effect I was going for.
Once the color was on my nails, I used my LED lamp from Manucurist to dry them and then put a layer of top coat on and repeated the drying process. If I say so myself, I was impressed with how well my nails turned out. They were bold, fun, and looked very sunset-kissed.

If you’re looking to try some nail art out on your nails, this is a very simple way to achieve the look. The hardest part of the entire process was cleaning the excess polish from around the nail (pro tip: I would suggest cleaning each nail as you go rather than cleaning them up after the polish has had time to sit on your skin). The other thing to consider is your nail length. My nails are now much longer than they’ve ever been, thanks to Manucurist’s Active Glow line, which I use when I don’t want to do an at-home gel manicure. But if you have shorter nails, you may only have space for one or two other colors on the sponge.
At first, I couldn’t decide if my nails were a little too bright with this look. The original version I saw on Instagram was slightly more muted than the shades I chose. But after a while, I got used to the color combination and embraced the sunset-inspired look on my nails.
