Lately, my life has consisted of a lot of wellness events and workouts…and I’m not unhappy about it, especially when they take place at Hero Beach Club in Montauk. This is one of my favorite hotels on the East End. I celebrated my birthday at the hotel a few years back, and last summer, it was where I was first introduced to Foward_Space. So, I was happy to return for one of Dria Murphy’s curated signature summer wellness events with Dogpound.
First off, if you’re looking for a boutique hotel in Montauk, Hero has a prime location with direct access to the beach, a swimming pool, funky artwork, well-appointed rooms with the ultimate beach vibe, and a beautiful lawn that hosts all types of different fitness classes. Plus, you’re centrally located and can walk right into town from your hotel. I always love spending time at Hero and soaking in as much of its tranquil surroundings as possible.

This past weekend, I braved the Hamptons traffic (which seems much worse this year than in years past) to try my first Dogpound class. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into, but I’m always up for trying new workout classes. Dogpound has studio locations in New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami, as well as offers virtual training. Their classes focus on mobility and stretch, functional training, boxing, and more. For our workout, we used resistance bands with a series of reps for each sequence. It didn’t feel like an intense workout at the time, but I woke up the next morning and could not move, so I guess it was more of a full-body workout than I thought. What I liked about the workout was that it required no special equipment and that you could do it anywhere to keep up with your fitness goals. I’ve already added a few of the sequences to my daily exercise routine.

After the class, we cooled down with refreshments from Koia, Gorgie, and Pop & Bottle and received a goodie bag from Advanced Trichology with hair supplements and serum. We also got to try mineral sunscreen from The Outset, which came in handy for the outdoor workout class.

Then, I hit the beach for my sanity stroll. Down the way from Hero is a stretch of beach alongside some cliffs (also known as Shadmoor State Park). It’s my favorite spot because it’s usually much quieter down there, and where the surfers go to catch some waves. It also gives me major West Coast vibes, and on this occasion, it served as the perfect spot to take a new profile picture for Instagram.

Between my morning workout and lengthy sanity stroll, I was ready for a quick bite to eat at Hero before hitting the beach to get a little sun. I love to jump in the water when I’m in Montauk, but this time the water was not only freezing, but also incredibly rough. I guess I’ll just have to make another trip back out to Montauk this summer.
