I have been on a sunglasses kick lately. As in, I keep buying lots of new pairs. But in my defense, for years, I have sworn by these Cabana Oversized Sunglasses from J.Crew, so it was probably time for an upgrade.
Recently, I ordered these two pairs from Meller. They were both different styles from what I would choose, and honestly, they have taken some time to get used to. I liked how the Shipo style fit and the fact that they had a lighter lens color, which allows me to keep them on if I’m running into a store quickly. The Kessie style have been a little trickier to acclimate to. I’m not sure if it’s because the lenses are polarized or if it’s just the shape of them, but I don’t love this pair as much.
So, when I heard there was a pair of sunglasses out there that looked universally flattering on everyone, I had to investigate. Naturally, they were the Celine Triomphe Sunglasses that came with a $550 price tag. But after a quick Google search for similar gold women’s sunglasses, I landed on this pair from Free People.
After confirming that my local store had them in stock, I stopped in and bought them. They had these frames in many different metal options, and I was torn between the gold and the rose gold, but I figured I’d get more wear out of the former. Just like the pair from Celine, the frames were flattering on my face and were sized just right.
For the record, I’m not one to spend big money on sunglasses. I wear mine to the beach and in the water, at the barn, and everywhere in between. Plus I would never forgive myself if I lost a pair of $550 sunglasses. So, I’m thrilled with my $30 dupes that seem to be Celine-inspired. Now, what should I do with the $520 I saved?
