Another summer weekend is in the books, and so is another trip to Montauk for a wellness event. This event was curated by wellness expert Dria Murphy at Hero Beach Club in celebration of her feature on the cover of James Lane Post. Dria is not only the founder of Alise Collective but also of By Dria, a membership-based platform that provides access to all of Dria’s favorite wellness brands and products.

Having attended Dria’s events at Hero in the past, I can attest that they are always fun, packed, and inspiring. This event was no exception, as James Lane Post was on hand with copies of their East End lifestyle magazine, as well as Montauk Country Mart, to provide us with fresh matcha before and after our workout, and Nalu Wellness offered complementary B12 shots. Of course, no event would be complete without Vitamin C packets from LivOn Labs and drinks from Gorgie and Koia.

The highlight of the event was a SotoSweat class led by Grace Freyre from SotoMethod. This workout combines cardio and sculpting movements designed to maximize burn and efficiently deliver a full-body workout. Soto stands for sixty on, ten on, which means that each muscle group gets worked with a 60-second isometric hold, and then the burn is sustained through a series of 10 dynamic movements before moving on. It sounds easy enough, right? I had seen people on Instagram try the workout and rave about the results, and I’ve wanted to try it out myself.

Once class began, we were greeted by Grace’s infectious energy, which made the 45-minute workout both enjoyable and invigorating, even as our muscles trembled. We started by working our legs in several standing positions that targeted different muscle groups. Then, still standing, we worked on arm exercises. It’s amazing what you can do without weights, and that was evident as we made circles with our arms (which, after a few repetitions, felt like they were on fire). After that, we got into some plank holds and ab exercises. By the time the class was over, every muscle group in my body had been activated in the best way possible. I love workouts like these because they are a good reminder of what your body can do, even when you think you need to rest. And they can be done anywhere and in a short amount of time.

After class, we cooled down with organic orange wine from Juliet, a female-founded luxury-boxed wine that’s gluten-free, vegan, and has a lower carbon footprint than most traditional boxed wines. I sampled the limited edition orange wine, and although I’m not much of a wine connoisseur, I found it to be the perfect fruity blend between being too dry and too sweet. Plus, the boxed design is sleek and ideal for bringing along on a beach picnic or vacation and helps to keep the wine tasting fresher longer. Juliet also offers a Pinot Noir, Dry Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.

Before the event concluded, each attendee received a By Dria gift bag featuring an array of amazing wellness products from LivOn Labs, a box of electrolyte packets from Superieur, a bottle of Respond 004 by Symbiome, a Biphase Moisturizing Oil from Furtuna Skin, beauty pops from Lemme and a Go Macro bar. I wasted no time trying the Symbiome oil when I got home and one of the electrolyte packets the next day to aid in recovery.
It’s events like these that emphasize the importance of coming together as a community and prioritizing our well-being that I find truly inspiring. Dria’s commitment to quality brands, support for small businesses, and uplifting female founders is what keeps me attending her events.
