When I entered my late thirties a few years ago, I began focusing more and more on healthy aging. And after being a caregiver, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of prioritizing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Just this week, I spent one too many days working from my couch, and coupled with the dreary weather, I felt completely drained and down. I forced myself to get outdoors, despite the rain, and take a long walk, made myself get to bed earlier, limited my scrolling time, and got together with a friend. By the next day, I felt like a brand new person.
Since September is Healthy Aging Month, I thought I would share some of the things I’ve incorporated into my daily routine to ensure I am doing all I can do to age gracefully.
LivOn Labs: I’ve been taking lypo-spheric Vitamin C and Glutathione from LivOn Labs for a while (which is saying a lot because I have never really been much of a supplement person). But these packets have become my go-to and are always in my bag, car, and luggage, too. While they might not taste great, knowing that I’m supporting my immune system on a cellular level and taking supplements with better absorption makes me feel good about what I’m putting into my body.
Sanity Strolls: While going for a walk might not seem like a big deal, taking a sanity stroll is. What’s the difference you might ask? A sanity stroll is taken at a place that brings you peace. For me, that’s at my local beach (or in my neighborhood, if I’m looking to log the miles). I try to stay off my phone, embrace what’s around me, and be present. After my strolls, I tend to be less stressed and able to think clearer.
Gua Sha Cryo Sticks: I keep my morning routine light because, well…I am not a morning person. But when I was gifted these Gua Sha Cryo Sticks from SkinByVee, I quickly learned how to use them, saw immediate benefits, and incorporated them into my daily routine. The Gua Sha Cryo Sticks have worked wonders to help move lymph, sculpt, and lift my skin while calming, soothing, and regulating blood flow through the benefit of Cryotherapy. Plus, these babies have helped my TMJ, which has been so bad lately.
Mocktails: I am in my mocktail era these days, and while I’ll have an alcoholic drink when I’m out somewhere, I’ve been loving the non-alcoholic versions when I want something sweet at home. My go-to has been the Spritz Italiano from De Soi. With sweet and bitter citrus, crisp white grape, and bold gentian root, complete with rich and relaxing adaptogens like L-theanine, lion’s mane, and reishi mushroom, it’s the perfect mocktail to enjoy before bed. Plus, it tastes just like an Aperol Spritz!
Electrolytes: I recently tried electrolyte packets from Superieur, and they became a favorite. I love the fresh watermelon flavor and that the packets contain zero sugar, and have pink Himalayan sea salt, and Vitamin C. This is the perfect thing to take after I go riding or when I’ve been lacking in my water consumption.
How do you prioritize health aging in your life?

Such a timely article Vanessa! I admire your sanity strolls and intentional wellness routines. I have been making it a priority to slow down on eating fast foods, and eating more Whole Foods. I already see and feel a difference!
