I’ve been looking forward to this upcoming week for a while because it means that my birthday is almost here. But it is also shaping up to be a busy week on the client front. In addition to that, I’m leaving for the Cayman Islands in just a few days, and there’s a lot to get done.
In an effort not to be too stressed before my trip, here are a few things I did to make sure I’m ready to tackle the week ahead, feeling balanced and refreshed.
Made time for self-care over the weekend: I had a client event on Friday night and woke up on Saturday feeling exhausted and drained. Rather than push through, I gave myself a total rest day to stay in bed, catch up on some TV shows, and do little else. It was just what my body needed, and by Sunday, I was ready to head to the barn and get a ride in.
Got ahead of my to-do list: I like to think that I’m an expert packer, but I do not excel at last-minute packing. With a few days to go before my trip, I’ve already started selecting items that I know I will bring with me, did a quick Amazon order that should arrive before I depart, and made lists of things to do that are still outstanding.
Cleaned up my space: I always like to make sure everything is neat before I go away. There’s nothing worse than coming back and needing to clean on top of emptying your suitcase. So, this time, I’ve done my best to straighten everything out before I go, which will include putting fresh sheets on my bed the morning I depart.
Prepped my clients: The one thing about entrepreneurship is that your business doesn’t stop when you go on vacation. There’s still content to get drafted, client calls that need to happen, and an editorial calendar that won’t write itself. Since I am aiming to be off the grid for my birthday and long weekend, that means getting everything done ahead of time. Instead of stressing about how much work I need to complete in just a few short days, I’m breaking down the workload into digestible pieces so as not to get overwhelmed.
By planning, prioritizing self-care, and breaking down tasks, even the busiest week seems doable. And, by week’s end, I’ll be on island time and enjoying the tranquil white sand beaches and warmer weather for a few days, which is just the respite I need!
