Simon Sinek once said “Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge.” That quote has always resonated with me and seemed like the perfect sentiment to share on a day like today.
As we celebrate Presidents Day, I find myself reflecting on what leadership truly means—not just in politics, but in talking about wellness, advocacy, and entrepreneurship. Leadership isn’t about titles or power; it’s about the ability to inspire, support, and create meaningful change.
When we think of leadership, we often picture presidents making big decisions or delivering historic speeches. But leadership comes in many forms. It’s the caregiver who selflessly advocates for a loved one, the entrepreneur who builds a business from the ground up, or the changemaker who uses their voice to drive policy reform.
For me, leadership has shown up in different ways throughout my life. Whether it was navigating my thyroid cancer diagnosis, stepping into the role of a caregiver, or taking the leap to start my own business, each experience reinforced the idea that leadership is about showing up, making tough choices, and uplifting those around me.
This Presidents Day, I encourage you to reflect on your own leadership journey. Whether you’re leading in your career, your community, or even in your personal life, remember that small actions can create a big impact.
How do you define leadership in your life? Let’s discuss this in the comments!
