If this week felt especially challenging, you’re not alone. Between the House vote earlier in the week (which, unfortunately, passed despite our strong opposition) and today’s ‘Economic Boycott’ (a reminder to refrain from shopping at large retailers), it’s safe to say—it’s been a week.
So, I want to say thank you. Thank you for showing up, for using your platforms to share information, and for your unwavering dedication to these important issues. Advocacy isn’t easy, especially in times like these, but it’s also when we need voices like yours the most.
You may have noticed that I’ve been more vocal than usual on my blog and social media. That’s because the cost of staying silent is too great. As someone who relied on Medicaid when my grandmother was in long-term care, I can only imagine what current caregivers are feeling right now with these proposed cuts. Whatever cause you’re passionate about, I know it likely feels just as personal to you, too.
But as much as I believe in standing up and fighting for what’s right, I’m also human…and I’m tired. This week has been exhausting. In fact, the last two months have felt like two years. Maybe you feel it, too.
That’s why I want to remind you to take time for yourself—whatever that looks like. If you need a break from social media, take it. If posting lighter content helps you reset, do that. Right now, everything feels hard. How you choose to spend your time shouldn’t be. Rest when you need to, recharge however you can, and know that when you’re ready, we’ll keep pushing forward—together.
Let’s keep the conversation going. Drop a comment and let me know how you’re feeling after this week, or share how you’re taking care of yourself. Your voice matters—both in advocacy and in community.
