This past week, I attended a three-day live training hosted by my business coach’s business coach. Yes, you read that right! Jess Glazer DeRose, who helped my coach, Diana Davis, scale her offers, was running a free training—and I figured, why not join?
Why I Almost Didn’t Attend
Over the last few months, my business has grown significantly. I’m fully booked with aligned, mission-driven clients, and I love the work I do. So, everything must be running smoothly, right? Well, in theory, yes. But when a client recently asked how many hours I work each week, I realized I had no concrete answer. Despite what my Instagram feed might suggest, I often feel like I’m always working (though my bank account might argue otherwise).
Initially, I was hesitant about joining DBE Live. The 90-minute sessions felt like a big commitment amidst my packed schedule of client calls, content creation, and meetings. But when I saw Diana post about it again, I decided to jump in. And did I mention it was free?
A Surprise Equestrian Connection
On the first day, I was scrolling through the Zoom chat during introductions and saw someone mention that she was an equestrian coach. Naturally, I sent her a private message. As we got to chatting, I discovered that not only does she coach both horses and riders, but she used to ride at the same barn I once boarded at—with the same trainer! What are the odds? That cosmic connection set the tone for the rest of my experience.
What I Learned from DBE Live
Jess provided an incredible amount of value throughout the three-day training, covering everything from business foundations to sales strategies.
- Day 1: We built our digital roadmap, clarifying what problem our business solves, defining our niche, and refining our why. Even though I’ve done this exercise before, I found myself uncovering fresh insights.
- Day 2: We dove into creating an irresistible offer.
- Day 3: We explored strategic sales techniques.
- Bonus Sessions: Jess also hosted additional coaching inside her private Facebook group, providing even more value.
By the end of the training, I wasn’t just questioning if my business was working—I was evaluating how efficiently it was running. Is it scalable? Sustainable? Could I be optimizing my processes for better results? The answer was a resounding yes to all of the above.
The Biggest Takeaway: Get in the Room
I didn’t sign up for this training because my business was failing—I joined because I wanted to ensure it was working at its best so I could continue making an impact without burning out. As business owners, it’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day hustle, making it hard to see the bigger picture. Being in a (virtual) room with fellow entrepreneurs who’ve faced similar growing pains was a powerful reminder that we don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Beyond gaining a new framework to evaluate my business, I also walked away with new connections—including one from my past! That equestrian coach? We ended up scheduling a Zoom coffee date and had an amazing conversation about Long Island, horses, and entrepreneurship.
So, if you’re an entrepreneur, consider this your permission slip to get in the room—even when you don’t feel like it. You never know what opportunities, insights, or connections are waiting for you.
