As much as I look forward to the Fourth of July every year, the holiday always feels like a turning point in the season—almost like summer’s unofficial halftime show. While there’s still plenty of sunshine left on the calendar, time seems to pick up speed after the last firework fades. Suddenly, I’m reminded to savor every moment between now and Labor Day weekend.
But July doesn’t just mark a seasonal shift—it also brings a flurry of events, making my calendar feel especially full. If you’re on Long Island and looking to make the most of the month, here are a few can’t-miss happenings to add to your agenda:
Go: What’s summer without a few standout events in the Hamptons? This month, I’m especially excited about two that blend wellness and community—my favorite combination.
First up is an event with Ashley Patten at her new Pilates studio in East Hampton on Sunday, July 13. You might remember I took one of her restorative mat classes last summer at the Montauk Lake Club, and it left a lasting impression. This time, she’s hosting Pilates & ‘On Healing’ Journaling, a 50-minute mat class followed by a conversation with Dr. Amitha Kalaichandran on the 5 Pillars of Health. The session will also include guided journaling using Dr. Kalaichandran’s new journal—and, yes, it’s included with registration! If wellness is on your mind this summer, this workshop is not to be missed…and there’s still time to sign up!
Later in the month, I’ll be back on the tennis court with Break the Love. I think it’s safe to say I’m fully in my tennis girl era now! I’ll be attending their July 26 event at Hampton Racquet and already have the August 9 match at the Montauk Yacht Club on my calendar, too. If you’ve been wanting to get in the game, these are great opportunities to jump in—rackets optional, fun guaranteed.
Do: When I’m not attending events or working with clients, you’ll likely find me on the water. While sailing is still a new sport for me, it’s quickly become one of the most peaceful—and thrilling—ways to enjoy Long Island’s coastline.
This Saturday, July 12, I’ll be part of a crew racing in the Eaton’s Light Yacht Club Ladies at the Helm event. It’s a chance for women sailors to take the lead, and I’m honored to be participating. Fingers crossed for good wind and clear skies!
Hear: One of my favorite local traditions is the Summer in the Park concert series presented by the Huntington Arts Council. This year marks 60 years of free, live performances at Heckscher Park—and trust me, it’s something special.
There’s nothing quite like laying out a blanket, bringing a few snacks, and soaking up the sounds of summer under the stars. I’ve been attending these shows for a decade, and the line-up never disappoints. The series runs through August, so check out the full schedule and consider supporting the Huntington Arts Council, who work so hard to bring this vibrant cultural offering to our community.
Stay: As much as I love Long Island in the summer, the heat and constant routine had me craving a change of scenery. So next week, I’m heading back to one of my favorite upstate escapes—Scribner’s Catskill Lodge in Hunter, New York.
This will be my third visit, and each time I go, I fall a little more in love with the area. Scribner’s offers a range of cozy accommodations, making it perfect whether you’re solo, with friends, or planning a family getaway. With a pool, sauna, and an incredible on-site restaurant, the property makes it easy to relax. Plus, the surrounding Catskills are filled with hikes, shops, and nature-driven adventures. I’ll be bringing my laptop and staying partially plugged in—but I’m carving out time for rest and reset, too.
What’s on your agenda this month?
