We’ve hit that sweet spot in summer when the days still feel long—but you can sense the shift. The light lingers just a little less, the evenings cool a little quicker, and suddenly, there’s a quiet reminder: soak it all in while you can.
As someone who loves summer in all its golden glory, I’m doing just that. This is my favorite time to be outdoors, to embrace every warm breeze and sunset stroll.
One tradition I look forward to every summer is catching a concert at Heckscher Park. The Huntington Arts Council curates an incredible lineup each year for the Huntington Summer Arts Festival, and I always make it a point to attend a few performances. It’s the perfect way to wind down a week or weekend—surrounded by community, culture, and the magic of live music under the stars.
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of hearing The Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra, a group that’s been playing in the park for over forty years. There’s something special about being part of a tradition that spans decades—especially when the night sky is clear, the air is warm, and the music of legendary composers fills the open space.
As if the evening couldn’t get better, it also happened to be National Ice Cream Day. Naturally, I celebrated accordingly—with a few scoops of Ben & Jerry’s that were conveniently on site. (Yes, I regret nothing.)
It was the perfect way to cap off a weekend that began with a midweek escape to Scribner’s Lodge—restorative, scenic, and exactly the reset I didn’t know I needed.

The concerts are free and run through August, which means there’s still plenty of time to grab a lawn chair, pack a picnic, and enjoy a beautiful evening in Huntington.
