Somehow, it’s already August—and every year, I find myself saying the same thing: Where did the summer go? While I’ve tried to slow down and soak it all in, this month is already filling up fast. Between local events, wellness-focused outings, and some much-needed downtime, here’s how I’m closing out the season.
Go: The final tennis event with Break the Love is happening Saturday, August 9 at the Montauk Yacht Club. The Summer Sets event series has been a highlight of my summer, and Montauk is where it all started for me last year—on these very courts in Montauk that inspired me to start playing tennis. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced player, these events are a great way to stay active, enjoy the East End, and connect with community. Expect refreshing drinks, wellness vendors, and an impressive swag bag.
Do: I’m finally checking Fan Week at the US Open off my summer bucket list! While the timing of the Open itself overlaps with another East End favorite—the Hampton Classic Horse Show—I’m excited to explore the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, watch top players practice, and immerse myself in the atmosphere of this world-class tennis event. If you’ve been before, send me your must-see spots.
Attend: The Hampton Classic Horse Show is back from August 24–31 in Bridgehampton, NY, and this year marks its 50th anniversary. With daily competitions in the grand prix, hunter, and equitation rings—not to mention high-end shopping and chic people-watching—it’s an East End tradition I always look forward to.
Visit: While I’ve been out to the Hamptons several times this summer for events, I’m finally carving out a day just to relax in Montauk. No set plans, just beach time, a seaside stroll, and maybe dinner with an ocean view. Sometimes, the best part of summer is simply being still and present—especially on the East End.
What’s on your August agenda this month?
