Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of helping my friend Laura, who runs the Etsy shop Humble and Spark—which just so happens to be where most of my jewelry comes from. We spent the day at a big Long Island event, which kicked off with a 5K the day before and wrapped up with a shopping day, and I had such a blast helping her set up and sell her jewelry all day.
I’ve done a few pop-ups over the years, and one of my favorite parts is interacting with customers—meeting new people and hearing which pieces really resonate with them. This event, by the water in Northport, was full of energy and a wonderful reminder that not everything has to feel like work…especially when you genuinely enjoy it.
But one thing quickly became clear: I could never work in the jewelry business myself. I spent the day gasping over every sparkly necklace I unpacked, trying on ring after ring, and let’s just say my birthday wish list is growing fast.
Interestingly, jewelry wasn’t always a passion of mine. Growing up, I mostly wore earrings, and that was about it. But now? I can’t get enough. I love stacking my pieces, layering necklaces, and rarely taking my jewelry off. That’s why I’m intentional about what I buy. I want pieces that will last and stand the test of time.
I first met Laura a decade ago, so you could say I’ve been wearing Humble and Spark jewelry for a long time. Her pieces are not only versatile but made to last. I wear them everywhere—from the barn to the boat and everywhere in between—and they always hold up beautifully. Now, whenever people are looking for a gift, I send them straight to Laura’s Etsy shop (her packaging is just as beautiful as her jewelry!).
By the end of the event, I was thrilled to see that the two necklaces I’d been eyeing all day were still there. It’s not like I needed more jewelry, but these two pieces were calling my name, so I couldn’t resist. I got this one and this one, and what do you know…they go perfectly together.
Helping out this past weekend was more than just setting up a pop-up. It was a joyful reminder that when you combine passion with work, it never really feels like work at all. And, of course, it gave me a little sparkly inspiration for my own style along the way.
