Up until a few years ago, the countdown to my birthday began at least 30 days in advance. But as I’ve gotten older, the excitement I once felt for my “birthday month” has mellowed a bit. That’s not to say I don’t love a good celebration or believe in the occasional “treat yourself” moment, but these days, the countdown clock doesn’t start quite as early.
The last couple of months have flown by in a blur, and I can hardly believe we’ve already turned the clocks back and the calendar ahead to November. Still, this month is shaping up to be another full one, with plenty of events—and even a bit of travel—on the agenda. Let’s dive in…
Do: November kicked off with me moderating a wellness talk for James Lane Fest, hosted by James Lane Post at Wave Wellness. It was such a joy spending the morning discussing all things wellness alongside inspiring female founders from the East End of Long Island. If you’d like to read more about our discussion, James Lane Post shared a great recap of the event!
Go: It looks like all those hours spent on the water this season paid off! I’ll be attending my sailing club’s annual awards night, and honestly, I have no idea what to expect. If there’s an award for “most likely to jump overboard to rescue her baseball hat,” I’d definitely be in the running. Either way, I’m so proud that I pushed myself to try something new, built meaningful friendships, and found such a supportive community. Keep an eye on my Instagram for updates from the evening…it’s happening tonight!
Travel: Later this month, I’ll be heading back to Europe for what’s become an annual tradition. I can’t wait for a change of scenery and to catch the magic of the Christmas markets as they start to take shape. I’m also looking forward to putting my 200+ days of Duolingo practice to good use (wish me luck!).
Celebrate: While getting another year older doesn’t always feel quite as thrilling as it once did, I’ll always be an advocate for celebrating yourself. Mid-month, I’ll be doing just that as I embark on my next trip around the sun. Each year brings new lessons and opportunities, and I plan to spend some time reflecting on all that the past 365 days have brought.
What’s on your agenda this month?
