I’m always a little bit sad when November ends and my birthday month comes to a close. But this year, the celebrations felt extra special as I carried them across continents. Now, back home, it seems the holiday season is already in full swing. The large Christmas tree in my town is up, festive parades are happening, and everyone is getting into the holiday spirit in their own way.
For the last couple of years, I tended to shy away from holiday festivities. This year, though, it feels lighter, brighter, and I’m genuinely excited to hang my wreath, decorate my tree, and soak in all the magic of the season.
Once I recover from my jet lag, here’s what I’m looking forward to this month:
Do: Long Island is lovely during the holidays, but no one can deny that New York City truly comes alive this time of year. I’ve got a quick weekend stay planned, filled with jazz, ballet, and maybe even a little theater. And of course, I can’t miss visiting the lions at the New York Public Library in their holiday finest or admiring the beautifully decorated storefronts along the way.
Go: After a few weeks of travel, a spa day is calling my name. A friend recommended the QC Spa on Governor’s Island in Manhattan, and I can’t wait to check it out. I’ve never been to Governor’s Island before, so this feels like the perfect mini getaway without leaving the city. If you’ve been, let me know if there is anything I should do or see while I’m there!
Attend: I’m fortunate to work with amazing clients who truly make me feel like part of the team—which means I get invited to their holiday parties! This year, I’m looking forward to celebrating the end of the year with them, reflecting on the projects we’ve accomplished, and raising a toast to shared successes. It’s such a joy to celebrate meaningful work with wonderful people.
Experience: One thing I never tire of during the holidays is a cozy evening of lights and local charm. This year, I’m planning to visit a few of Long Island’s holiday light displays—walking through sparkling streets, sipping hot cocoa, and taking in all the twinkling magic. It’s the perfect way to slow down, enjoy the season, and remind myself how much joy these little moments can bring.
What’s on your agenda this month?
