I don’t know about you, but every once in a while a theme seems to quietly choose the year for you. For me, this is the Year of the Horse.
Not in the zodiac sense (though I love a good cosmic moment), but in the way life starts nudging you—again and again—toward the same lesson until you finally stop, listen, and lean in. This year isn’t about sprinting. It’s about strength, trust, and rhythm. And remembering that momentum doesn’t always look loud.
Here’s how I’m tacking up for the Year of the Horse:
Returning to What Grounds Me
Horses have been part of my life in different chapters, but lately they’ve felt less like a hobby and more like a compass.
There’s something deeply grounding about walking into a barn. The smells, the sounds, the quiet routines. Horses don’t care about deadlines, algorithms, or inboxes. They care about consistency, clarity, and how you show up in your body.
And honestly? That feels like the exact medicine this season of life calls for.
The Year of the Horse is asking me to return to what steadies me—physically, mentally, emotionally. To move my body with intention. To breathe deeper. To let nervous energy burn off in healthy ways instead of carrying it around like a badge of productivity.
Power Without Force
One of the biggest lessons horses teach is that force doesn’t work. You can’t rush them. You can’t fake confidence. And you can’t muscle your way into partnership.
They respond to calm leadership, clear communication, and trust built over time. Tell me that isn’t a metaphor for adulthood.
This year, I’m releasing the idea that everything has to be pushed, hustled, or proven. The Year of the Horse is about quiet power—the kind that comes from knowing yourself, holding boundaries, and moving forward without apology.
Strength doesn’t always rear up. Sometimes it walks on.
Trusting the Pace
If there’s one thing horses will humble you on, it’s pace. They know when you’re rushing. They know when you’re distracted. And they definitely know when you’re trying to skip steps.
This year, I’m practicing trusting the pace I’m in—even when it feels slower than the world would prefer.
Progress doesn’t have to be frantic to be meaningful. Some seasons are for building muscle you can’t see yet. Like balance, endurance, and confidence. The Year of the Horse reminds me that long-term strength is built lap by lap, not all at once.
Presence Is the Point
You cannot be halfway present around a horse. They require your full attention, awareness, and nervous system regulation.
And maybe that’s why I keep coming back.
In a world that constantly pulls us into the next thing, horses anchor you firmly in the now. This year, I’m choosing presence over perfection. Showing up fully instead of showing up polished. And letting experiences be felt instead of filtered.
An Invitation
If this resonates, consider this your gentle nudge:
Where could you soften your grip and trust your strength?
Where are you being asked to slow down—not to stop, but to move more intentionally?
What would it look like to partner with your life instead of trying to control it?
For me, the answer is clear.
This is the Year of the Horse.
And I’m riding into it with patience, power, and purpose.
