Every year, I tell myself I’ll stay consistent through the winter. And every year…winter wins.
Between shorter days, colder weather, and the natural urge to slow down, my workout routine tends to take a backseat. I’ve learned to stop fighting that seasonal shift and instead lean into it. But come early spring, I always feel that pull to get back into a rhythm that makes me feel like me again.
This year, getting back into a routine looked a little different, and honestly, better than I expected.
A friend recommended the Alo Wellness Club to me, and I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first. At-home workouts have never really been my thing. I thrive on the energy of a class, the structure, and the getting-out-of-the-house aspect of it all. Working out in my living room? Historically…not my favorite.
But I decided to give it a try, and now I can confidently say: I’m hooked.
What surprised me most is how easy it feels to stay consistent. The platform offers such a variety of classes—different styles, lengths, and levels—that it meets you exactly where you are on any given day. Whether I have 10 minutes or 45, whether I want something low-impact or a little more challenging, there’s always an option that fits.
And that flexibility? It’s been everything.
Instead of the all-or-nothing mindset I’ve fallen into before, I’m moving more, more often, and actually enjoying it. There’s no pressure to commit to a full class across town or carve out a huge chunk of time. It’s just…press play and start. And did I mention that access to these classes is free?
Somewhere along the way, these workouts shifted from being something I should do to something I genuinely look forward to. It’s become my favorite part of the day—a moment that’s just for me, where I can reset, move my body, and feel accomplished before I even step outside.
I think that’s what I’ve been missing all along: not the “perfect” routine, but one that fits seamlessly into my life.
If you’re also coming out of a slower season and trying to find your way back into movement, consider this your reminder that it doesn’t have to look the way it used to. It can be simpler, softer, and more flexible. And maybe even…something you love.
Because sometimes, the best routines are the ones you didn’t expect to stick.
