There’s something magical about taking a yoga class outdoors.
Sure, the movement is the same. The poses don’t change. But when you swap four walls and fluorescent lights for open skies, fresh air, and the sounds of nature, the entire experience feels different.
This weekend, I attended a yoga class led by Lauren of Good Life Yoga at Rexer Family Farm in Huntington, and it may have been one of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever practiced in.
What made the morning even more special was that it was my first time visiting Rexer Farm. Despite living on Long Island for years, I had never made it out to the farm before. As soon as I arrived, I understood why so many people love it.
The Rexer family has been farming on Long Island for 38 years, creating a destination that feels both rooted in tradition and perfectly suited for modern-day experiences like outdoor yoga. Surrounded by flower fields and open space, the farm provided the ideal backdrop for a morning of movement and mindfulness.

Picture this: rows of blooming flowers stretching across the farm, a gentle summer breeze, and a group of people rolling out their mats among the fields. It was one of those quintessential Long Island summer mornings that reminds you why it’s worth slowing down and spending more time outdoors.
Lauren guided the class with a calming presence, encouraging us to focus on our breath, move intentionally, and enjoy being fully present in the moment. There was something especially grounding about flowing through yoga poses while surrounded by nature rather than the walls of a traditional studio.
As someone who spends much of her time juggling work deadlines, content creation, and the everyday demands of life, I often find myself seeking out experiences that help me reconnect with the present moment. Yoga has always been one of those practices for me, but adding the farm setting elevated the experience even more.
Instead of focusing on my never-ending to-do list, I found myself paying attention to the little things—the scent of fresh flowers, the warmth of the sun, and the simple joy of moving my body in such a peaceful environment.
One of the things I love most about wellness is that it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes wellness looks like an intense workout class. Other times, it’s a quiet walk on the beach, a morning at the barn, or an hour spent stretching among flower fields.

This class was also a reminder of how many unique experiences Long Island has to offer. We often think we need to travel far to find beautiful destinations or memorable wellness experiences, but sometimes they’re right in our own backyard.
I left feeling refreshed, grounded, and already hoping to return for another class before the season ends.
When was the last time you took your wellness routine outdoors? Whether it’s yoga, a walk, or simply enjoying your morning coffee in nature, I’d love to hear how you recharge.
