While everyone else seems excited to transition to fall, I always find this time of year a little sad. I’m not quite ready to say farewell to summer and welcome in the chillier days.
I know, I know…pumpkin everything, cozy sweaters, changing leaves and all of that. And eventually, I’ll get there. But right now, I’m still holding onto the long days, warm evenings, time on the water and that unmistakable feeling that summer isn’t supposed to end just yet.
September always feels like a bit of a transition month to me. Summer is still here, but fall is waiting in the wings. And this year, I have quite a bit on the agenda, including one final sailing race, a major personal milestone, an exciting new equestrian partnership and a new Long Island spa I can’t wait to experience.
So, before we officially turn the page to fall, here’s what’s on my September agenda.
Go: I’m squeezing in one final sailing race before the season comes to an end. There’s something about being out on the water that makes summer feel a little longer, and I’m definitely not taking this last race for granted. I’ve loved getting back out on the water this year, and I’m looking forward to one more day of wind, competition and hopefully a little post-race fun. Consider this my final attempt to pretend summer isn’t ending.
Do: September will also bring something that’s been on my to-do list for quite some time: fibroid surgery. It’s certainly not the most glamorous thing on my September agenda, but it’s an important one. After dealing with fibroids and the symptoms that have come along with them, I’m ready to take this next step and hopefully put this chapter behind me. I know recovery will mean slowing down — something that doesn’t always come naturally to me — so I’m trying to embrace the idea of taking some time to rest, recharge and let my body recover. And who knows? Maybe a little forced downtime is exactly what I need.
Try: I’m also adding a little self-care to the September agenda. A new spa recently opened on Long Island and invited me in to experience one of its facials, and I’m very much looking forward to it. I love discovering new local wellness spots, especially when they combine a beautiful space with treatments that make you feel like you’ve actually stepped away from everyday life for a little while. I’ll be sharing the full experience here, including the spa, the facial and, of course, my honest take afterward.
Collaborate: I’ve also been keeping a little secret that I’m so excited to finally share more about. There’s a new equestrian partnership in the works, and I honestly couldn’t be more thrilled about it. Horses and riding have been such a meaningful part of my life for so long, so getting to collaborate with a brand that feels like such a natural fit is especially exciting. I’m not going to give too much away just yet, but I promise it will be worth the wait.
What’s on your agenda this month?
